Handler Hope Foundation’s
We believe Lauren’s prognosis could have been drastically improved had she had her brain scanned like she wanted early on in her cancer journey. We plan to fund and support those doctors and researchers making the case to have these scans the best practice in care. Too many breast cancer patients follow this same path. The number of lives that can be positively affected by scanning early makes this a perfect fight to support.
We plan to recruit part time volunteers that are subject matter experts in the areas of insurance, home care, and case management that can help answer the questions of patients and their support networks. Each patient’s prognosis is a snowflake and so is their journey. Having a resource that can help guide them to the most relevant and useful information will be a neverend battle. The landscape of the disease and it’s treatment is constantly changing.
Lauren spent most of her three month hospital stay in the cancer center at Huntington Hospital. A.K.A – 1 North. How medical staff do what they do makes a tremendous difference in the recovery of the patients and the comfort of their support networks. The 1 North team made such positive impacts we are going to continue to support them indefinitely.
